Staying Healthy the Psychological Way
When told that we are not in the best of our health, our mind sprints toward the possibility of some kind of illness that is affecting our physical well-being. If we are told that we are not in the best shape, all we can think about is the excess fat that we have gained and that we need to hit the tracks to get in shape again. This concept of health has become so popular that we have forgotten the basic definition of health that we were all taught initially which says that health is the physical, social and mental well-being of a person. This means that not in the best of our health could actually mean suffering from psychological duress and not being in shape could mean emotional or psychological unrest.
It is thence very important that we maintain good mental health in order to be completely fit. This might seem very easy but in the present times, it is actually a herculean task. The main reason for that is the excessive stress in everyone’s life. Let us look at certain mundane techniques that can help us achieve this desired state of mental fitness.
Imagination brings Bliss at no Cost
The hectic and mechanical lifestyle of today has made our minds stagnate in the same cobwebs of roles and duties on a daily basis. It is because of this that our mind has no creative freedom and thus gets stressed easily. To overcome this daily stress, you must peacefully close your eyes and let your brain wander about in a dream of its own. This helps the mind remain in a tranquil state and thus plainly happy.
Feel the Love around You
Our lives are so busy that we have no time for anything and it is times like these when Aristotle’s saying “What is this life if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare seems to be absolutely apt. It has been observed that if we make note of all the little gestures of kindness and love around us, then we will be less prone to succumbing to the extreme stress levels around us.
The Phrase “Let Go”
Another major problem that contributes to the high stress now-a-days is that we all take things too seriously. We have forgotten about the phrase let go. Just as it is important for you to take note of all the positive deeds around you, it is equally essential to just let the negative things go unnoticed. This means never having to take snide comments to your heart and never replaying all the faults that we are criticized for. Just appreciate yourself and never let anyone or anything demean you.
Exercising Calms Your Nerves
Most people also have a misconception that all the three aspects of health namely social, physical and mental are completely alienated. They could not be any more wrong. It has been scientifically proven that if a person exercises on a regular basis, then he is more equipped to deal with anxiety or depression. Also, joining an exercise group helps you to socialize with people and that plays a very positive role in developing mental fitness.
You probably have never thought of the above mentioned aspects of staying in good health. Staying healthy is apparently more about your balanced state of mind that is free of any tension or stress. If you are able to guarantee this only thing, you are already healthy in a major way and taking nutritious foods can only enhance your state even further.
